One of the most common questions we have received and it’s time to shed some light on this.
Light-based Hair Removal
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Super Hair Removal (SHR) and Laser Hair Removal works on the principle of light/heat energy being absorbed by our hair, and destroying it. These hair removal methods are collectively known as photoepilation.
What is IPL again?
IPL is a blast of light energy that emits multiple wavelengths that hair follicles can absorb.
What is SHR?
ICYDK, SHR is actually IPL in a fancier acronym.
SHR is an application method, i.e. the “gliding” or “in-sweep motion”.
It is not a newer or more advanced hair removal technology, but a different application method that uses lower energy and multiple glides on an area.
Same-same, but Different
We believe that precision delivers true efficacy.
Administering Shot-by-Shot ensures the hair follicles are targeted accurately, with equal energy.
As compared to In-Sweep Motion (SHR) which glides haphazardly multiple times, in hopes to gradually heat up and damage follicles to achieve the same efficacy as 1 Shot™ .
Moreover, going Shot-by-Shot allows us to use higher range of intensity to target hair follicle effectively. Whereas if we were to use In-Sweep Motion (SHR) with Shot-by-Shot intensity, it’s most likely that burns may occur.
In-Sweep Motion (SHR) is like a bowl of lukewarm porridge, it may fill you up but are you satisfied? You may see some difference, but are you exactly getting the best out of it?
Shot-by-Shot is our way to go.
Though Express is our middle name, we stand by being meticulous. Even if it may take more time to cover a large area, we would rather do that than to quickly end a customer’s session.
